What Is Endodontics?

Root Canals Endodontics

While root canal treatments have a reputation for being painful, Dr. Berger is usually able to do root canals in one-visit using the very latest technology. Patients usually comment, “Is that it?” Root canals are performed when the pulp or nerve of a tooth has become damaged, inflamed, or infected. Pain associated with a toothache is the most common cause for a root canal. Other circumstances include an abscessed tooth, a deep cavity, decay, or a fractured tooth. During the procedure, we will numb the affected tooth with local anesthesia, and create an opening through the top of the tooth to remove the damaged pulp. The canal and tooth will be thoroughly cleaned, and a crown will be placed on top of the tooth to protect it, as well as the rest of the mouth. Once the crown is in place, your smile will function properly and pain-free. Paired with proper oral hygiene, your treatment will serve you well for a healthy and beautiful smile!
