Porcelain Veneers: A Solution for a Better Smile

Porcelain Veneers: A Solution for a Better Smile

If you’re concerned about the imperfections of your smile – whether it be discoloration, gaps, chips and cracks – then porcelain veneers can be just the solution. Not only will dental veneers restore your confidence in your smile and create beautifully aligned, shaped teeth, they provide many other benefits. Dental veneers are much more than cosmetic surgery, and taking the time to learn about them can be the first step on a journey toward the smile you’ve always dreamed of.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Dental veneers (also known as dental porcelain laminates) are thin, custom-made shells that cover the front of teeth. These tooth-colored veneers are bonded to the teeth by your dentist to change their color, size, shape, or length, and are designed to improve their overall appearance. The veneers are made of either porcelain or composite. Dental veneers are able to resist stains better and imitate the properties of regular teeth.

What Is The Procedure?

It generally takes a week for the fabrication of a porcelain veneer, although the time may vary. We will use a shade guide to determine the best veneer color for your particular teeth, while also taking an impression of your teeth that will be sent to our dental lab to get the best possible match. Once the veneer has been created, we will gently remove a tiny portion of you tooth’s outermost layer to make sure the veneer rests flush against your tooth. We will then use a special laser light to bond the veneer to your tooth and ensure strength and stability.

The Benefits

If you have severely dull or discolored teeth that can’t be improved by your dentist through minimally invasive options, then dental veneers can greatly enhance the appearance of your smile. They’re also used by your dentist to correct spaces between your teeth, discolored teeth, chipped and cracked teeth, and crooked teeth.

After Care and Maintenance

Once your veneers are in place, your porcelain veneer will resist most of the rigors of a regular diet. They require regular check-ups from your dentist, like any teeth, and should be checked for any changes.
